Mckay Manor On Duckworth Hotel - St. John's

Parkade felt unsafe. I worried about my car.

everything was simply great. travelled with my wife, spent 2 nights here and had a such wonderful stay. there was a good choice of fabulous meals. the location of the hotel was perfect and comfortable - just a short stroll away from the rooms. plus it was in a downtown area. distance to the airport was just 10 km.

i booked a room with a comfortable bed, central heating, multi-channel television, and a seating area. it had a bathtub in the modern bathroom. the location was absolutely ideal, near restaurants and bars.

The room was only slightly clean, but with one tiny towel for three days, what a joke! And don't even get me started on the no air conditioning. It was just a floor fan. Woudl ve been lovely to recieve an upgrade for my inconvenience, but alas, i guess everyone else mattered more.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife, had a such wonderful stay. The room was a nice size and bright with nice view and the chocolate, for example. The location couldn't be more ideal and convenient close to shops and restaurants. And I were really close to the harbour, Water & George St Restaurants and attractions, downtown area and the bars.

The location was nice, within walking distance of The Rooms.

The hosts were very responsive and let us store our bags in a secure spot after check-out one day. The room was spacious, and the comfy bed, I didn't hear a peep from the street noise as promised.

It wasn't cheap, but given the amenities and service, it was still acceptable.

Room decor had a vintage charm. The owners displayed a commitment to enhanced guest service, ensuring everyone felt welcomed. Navigating the stairs might be a challenge for some, especially older guests or those with mobility issues.

Free Wi-Fi in public areas was great. It was noisy at night, though.

The place offers a fully equipped kitchenette. The rooms are clean and well-decorated with comfortable beds. I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. Guests can relax in a communal kitchen. Our hosts were attentive and responsive throughout our stay 😊

The air freshener was quite overwhelming for those with allergies, and the surrounding area can be noisy at night. It's also important to note that accessing the rooms requires walking up several stairs, which may be a consideration for some travelers.

The queen room offers a surprising amount of space with a distinct charm, with vintage decor that adds a unique flair. The building, while old, is well-maintained with a cozy atmosphere that gives it character.

No on-site parking means navigating street parking, challenging in a busy area with not-so-great safety vibes from nearby parkades. The lighting can feel pretty dim, especially in areas like the kitchen, leading to a less-than-ideal cooking situation. Plus, the cleanliness of common areas needs a solid nudge. Encountering garbage in the stairwells detracts from the overall experience over a four-night stay.

Oh, let me wax poetic about the muesli! It was a heavenly blend of flavors that kicked off our mornings right. Plus, the place was cozy, with spacious rooms and a kitchen that sparkled like a new penny. We hardly noticed the other guests-absolute bliss 🌟

Now, about the parking debacle-yikes! Despite being told to park at the nearby garage for safety, our first night ended with a smashed window and a few cherished items disappearing into thin air.
